To measure the richness of the deck in acceptable cards the gambler will retain record of the cards the are already played. Strategies differ but all refer a mark value to each playing-card. in support of example the Ken Uston's Plus/Minus plan assigns a value of +1 to 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, and -1 to tens and aces. All else is 0, or removed. At the start of a deck or shoe the total is 0.

Then the counter constantly adds and subtracts from the number in conformity with to the cards played. This game total is called the " running total." A positive count means that a disproportional number of little cards hold already been played which means the deck is full in big cards. To settle the " correct count" separate the running total on the numbers of decks left to be played, or in some strategies the numbers of half decks. This will tell you the relevant richness of the deck in acceptable cards.

The correct count is utilized in two ways, to settle how much to wager and how to gamble your hand. Unless it is clear, every case has a line in which you should challenge single way if the count is over the line and another if under. In support of case, a 12 against a 6 may say that you stand if the correct count is +1 or greater and hit if the correct count is less than +1.
